We are seeking to employ a person or persons that are interested in working in the Food and Beverage Service Industry. We have a full service restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. We also have a full bar that serves mixed cocktails, beer and wine. The restaurant offers a wine list with a blend of wines that tend toward local varieties.
Our business is located in Island Park, Idaho which is a tourist destination that caters to people visiting Yellowstone National Park. Our area is also well known for some of the finest fly fishing anywhere in the world with blue ribbon waters such as the Madison, Firehole, Snake and Yellowstone Rivers nearby. During the Fall we cater to hunters and in the Winter season we are known as the snow machine capital of the world with well over 1000 miles of groomed and un-groomed trails. Island Park is truly a Sportsman’s Paradise and besides the many activities mentioned already we have cross country and downhill skiing, miles of ATV and off road trails, camping, hiking, mountain climbing and biking, whitewater rafting, water skiing and boating. The list is almost endless. We make note of this just to give anyone thinking of pursuing our invitation an idea of the flavor of the area.
What we are looking for in a food service employee(s) is a person who is able to cook in a fast paced kitchen and produce a quality product. This also involves prep work, ordering product, stocking and performing the various duties that keep a kitchen running smoothly. Eventually we want a person that has the desire to excel into a full management position who can not only run an efficient kitchen but manage the entire restaurant. Naturally this will evolve into a considerable increase in both responsibility and pay.
Our hope is that this ad might entice an individual(s) in coming to Island Park to pursue a career in the Food and Beverage Industry and thrive in a community such as ours. We have had a restaurant here for the past 30 years. Before making Island Park, Idaho our permanent home, we had four large restaurants in San Diego, California which had 350 seat capacities with 150 - 200 seats in the bar. All total we have owned and operated our own restaurants since 1975 with restaurant experience working for other employers before that. Each restaurant that either we have managed and/or owned has always thrived and continues to do so.
This job offers a full time employment opportunity but with plenty of time off for vacations, etc. Also, our employees work no more than 5 shifts with 2 consecutive days off. During the busiest times we work no more than 40 hours a week unless an employee wants to voluntarily pick up additional hours. We realize it is important for an individual to have time away from work to either recreate and/or take care of personal responsibilities.
We do have housing available for key personnel. Pay is much higher than common in the restaurant industry and even our “back of the house” staff gets tipped from fellow employees. We offer a choice between hourly or salary pay for such positions. Experience and references will certainly contribute to a person’s starting pay, but prior experience is not required. We are very active with training and management.
This is an offer that is ideally suited for someone who enjoys the mountains, loves the outdoors and recreation. This opportunity has long term potential for stability, profitability, and managerial potential. Our desire within the next few years is to semi-retire and turn our successful business over to a sharp, capable and younger individual who can work with people and mange a busy establishment.
